Fiji is a tropical paradise that will have you feeling like you’ve hit the jackpot of vacation destinations. The beaches are like something out of a movie, the locals are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, and there’s no shortage of things to do.

Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands

The Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands are a must-see for any traveller to Fiji. These islands are known for their stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and sunbathing. Malolo Island, Monuriki Island, and Yasawa Island are a few of the most popular beaches that are worth visiting. Not only will you get to relax on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, but you’ll also get to experience traditional Fijian village life.

Garden of the Sleeping Giant

This botanical garden is home to over 2,000 varieties of orchids, many of which are indigenous to Fiji. It’s a tranquil and peaceful place to visit, and an opportunity to learn more about the country’s flora. But let’s be real, the real draw here is the chance to take a selfie with a giant orchid-covered statue of Anthony Quinn.

Navua River

For adventure seekers, river rafting on the Navua River is a must-do. This is a great way to experience the Fijian wilderness and see some of the country’s beautiful flora and fauna. But, more importantly, it’s an excuse to wear a trendy waterproof bag and pretend like you’re an adventurer in a National Geographic photoshoot.

Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool

And, for a truly unique experience, head to the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool. Here, you can relax in natural hot springs and slather yourself in mineral-rich mud, said to have rejuvenating properties. Plus, it’s an excuse to take a photo of yourself covered in mud and post it on Instagram with the caption “finding my zen in Fiji”.

Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple

If you’re looking for a bit of culture, the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple is a must-see. This temple is one of the most important Hindu temples in the country and is a beautiful example of traditional Fijian-Indian architecture. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to take a break from the beaches and get a glimpse of the diverse culture that makes Fiji so unique.

Mamanuca Islands

The Mamanuca Islands are a must-visit for any traveller to Fiji. These stunning islands offer a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and culture. Whether you’re looking to laze on white sandy beaches or snorkel in crystal-clear waters, the Mamanucas have it all. You can also explore traditional Fijian villages, learn about the island’s rich history and culture, or even take a cooking class to learn how to make traditional Fijian dishes. The Mamanuca Islands are also known for its breathtaking landscapes, with lush tropical forests, cascading waterfalls and a unique wildlife.

The island is also a popular spot for water sports like surfing, paddle boarding and kite surfing. Visitors can also take a day trip to nearby islands, like Monuriki Island, which was the location for the film “Cast Away” starring Tom Hanks. With so much to see and do, the Mamanuca Islands are the perfect place to experience the best of Fiji.

Coral Reefs

And last but not least, no trip to Fiji is complete without a visit to the coral reefs. Some of the most popular and beautiful coral reefs in Fiji include the Great Astrolabe Reef, the Rainbow Reef, and the Somosomo Strait. These reefs are home to an abundance of marine life, from vibrant tropical fish to sea turtles and even sharks. Whether you’re a seasoned scuba diver or just snorkelling for the first time, these reefs offer the perfect opportunity to explore the underwater world and see the “real-life” Nemo and Dory.

Fiji is a truly special place that offers something for everyone. From stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, to adventure and culture, there’s no shortage of things to do. And, if you’re looking for an even more immersive experience, consider volunteering with an organisation like GVI, where you can dive deeper into the culture and give back to the community while earning your PADI. So, pack your sunscreen and let’s go to Fiji!
